Make your region, neighborhood, or real estate project more sustainable
At The Sharing Group, we’re building the People’s Power Plant — the only power plant you’d actually want to live in. This is how we accelerate the energy and mobility transition, neighborhood by neighborhood.
Looking for ways to make your region, community, or property more sustainable?
The Problem
We’re consuming more electricity than ever, thanks to electric vehicles and heat pumps. At the same time, millions of households generate their own solar power, causing massive peaks in supply. The result: an overloaded power grid, like a traffic jam of electrons. It’s inefficient, expensive, and vulnerable.
The Solution
The Sharing Group is developing the People’s Power Plant — a smart, shared energy system where people generate, store (with home batteries or shared EVs), and share energy locally. This keeps energy affordable, relieves pressure on the grid, and cuts CO₂ emissions.
It’s Good Sharing in action: smartly sharing what you already have — like energy and mobility — to create more impact together with fewer resources.

Utrecht Energized
Utrecht proves it can be done. In partnership with the Municipality of Utrecht, Renault Group, MyWheels and We Drive Solar, we launched Europe’s first large-scale Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) car sharing service in 2025: Utrecht Energized. This concrete step supports a smarter, cleaner energy system in a city where 35% of rooftops are already covered with solar panels. With V2G technology, electric cars store surplus energy and feed it back into the local grid during peak hours, making green energy reliably available, day and night. Our ambition is to take this proven model far beyond Utrecht, to other cities in the Netherlands and Europe.
FAQ
Do you have any questions? We're always here for you! Contact us at ppp@thesharinggroup.com. We're happy to help.
No, not at all. We’re happy to think along with you. Whether you’re looking for a full system or just a part of it — such as charging infrastructure, battery storage, or shared mobility — we tailor our solution to your needs. We build on what’s already there.
Not at all. While new builds offer opportunities to design smart from the start, the People’s Power Plant is equally valuable for existing neighborhoods and properties. By linking energy, mobility, and storage intelligently, we can add value in nearly any setting.
That depends on the scale and complexity, but we can often begin an initial assessment within a few weeks. Together, we map out what’s needed for a successful implementation — from technical infrastructure to stakeholder alignment.
Our starting point is always to explore collaboration with local players. Whether it’s installers, energy providers, or grid operators — we aim to integrate with what’s already working and build bridges, not replace systems. Partnership is key.
The value is both societal and economic:
- Reduced pressure on the energy grid
- Lower CO₂ emissions
- More affordable energy and mobility
- Residents benefit from smart, future-proof solutions
- In short: more impact with fewer resources.
